And thanks to everyone who entered and re-tweeted. I hope that anyone who bid on bleacher seats had good luck and will join us on the red carpet on the 23rd! And enter our new contest or promote our Facebook fan page because you love us that much :)
We had a walk-through Monday morning, and some additional production crew joined us in the office – everyone’s going at full steam! I know I’ve said it before, but I really can’t believe the show is in two weeks. It seems even faster than last time. With that said – we’re trying to cram even more into the calendar.
As you should know, Betty White is our Life Achievement honoree this year. The first time I met her, I was just coming in for a regular Monday morning, dreading coming back from the weekend and the elevator opened up and ‘Hey look! It’s Betty White…’ I awkwardly stepped into the elevator, mostly from being caught off guard, and Betty was just so nice! She's super stylish with her lion necklace and loves animals. Aldo (our awards pup) was in the house that day, so he got some love from Betty.
There’s another group of people who are also great to work with, the SAG Awards Committee! If you don’t know who they all are – let us tell you a little bit about them.
JoBeth Williams - our committee chair and president of the SAG Foundation whom you'd recognize from her starring roles in "Poltergeist" and "The Big Chill" and her recent arc on "Dexter” and appearance on “Private Practice”
Daryl Anderson - our committee Vice Chair; who made his first big splash as the photographer nicknamed "Animal" on the TV drama "Lou Grant," and is still shooting great pictures
Scott Bakula - who's currently starring in TNT's hot new drama "Men of a Certain Age and who thrilled sci-fi fans on "Quantum Leap" and "Star Trek" Enterprise"
Shelley Fabares - star of such classic TV series as "Coach," "One Day at a Time" and "The Donna Reed Show"
Paul Napier - who you might recognize as one of the old-line bankers from the Washington Mutual ads and who was the original "Mr. Goodwrench"
They’re always so nice. Whether I’ve run into them coming out of long meetings or at 5 in the morning for nominations, you can tell they love doing what they do. There is a wide range in membership, from Paul Napier who is a founding member of the Committee to Scott Bakula, the newbie who joined just last year.
We're going to give you the chance to get to know all of these fabulous people: Betty, JoBeth, Daryl, Scott, Paul and Shelley. Have you ever wanted to ask them how they got their start? Or what was their favorite part of working on? Now is your chance.

Betty--I know you are an animal lover. Did you have pets when you were growing up? What sort?
ReplyDeleteHow did you get started in acting? You are a Hoot on Craig Ferguson's show! Always love it when you stop by to visit him.
Congratulations on your Lifetime Acheivement Award!
--Joanne Greene
My question to Betty:
ReplyDeleteYou will be presented the award by Sandra Bullock. What is the most unforgettable and funniest memories during the shoot of The Proposal?
No question, just a thank you for being one of the funniest, most delightful women I have ever had the joy to watch. Oh, no wait a minute! When are you bringing back Password??? -Laura Langdon
ReplyDeleteBetty:
ReplyDeleteYou have played so many wonderful and enjoyable characters in your acting career! Which role has been your favorite and why?
Question is for Shelley, How did your friendship start with Annette Funnicello(spelling the last name wrong).
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to say Thank You to Betty White for bringing her wonderful talents to the world. I have enjoyed everything that you ahve ever worked on. Hope to see you soon on more things.
ReplyDeleteI'm enjoying Scott Bakula's series Men of a Certain Age and feel that the characters are learning about themselves in the course of the series (even if sometimes they don't want to).
ReplyDeleteMy question is for Scott: What have you learned about *yourself* (not Terry)? (whether in the making of the series, or any other time recently)
Pam from Boston (still around just laid off repeatedly)
This question is for Shelley: You've worked with some great actors throughout your career -- Elvis, Craig T. Nelson, and even your husband, Mike Farrell. Who has been your favorite costar and why?
ReplyDeleteMy question to Scott. Any plans to and preform in the theater any time soon now that the shooting for MOACA is done for a while?
ReplyDeleteShelly,
ReplyDeleteYou grew up with Paul Petersen. I'm sure you're aware of his work advocating for children in the entertainment industry. I wonder if you could tell a bit about your experiences as a child growing up on tv (I know you were a bit older than Paul when the show aired), how it might have affected your lifestyle as a child, and your opinions about children today being effected in the reality entertainment industry.
We just heard Moaca got picked up Scott, congrats. Still hoping somwehere in between now and Chuck and starting shooting for Moaca again we'll see you in the theater
ReplyDeleteAnother question for Scott - when is the hiking trail that is used in Men of a Certain Age? A lot of fans are curious about this. (I just see the scenery and miss LA)
ReplyDeleteHello Betty;
ReplyDeleteMy question is for you: I just love you, I think you are a wonderful, sweet person and I want to know.
I saw you on B&B and when your character was killed off I was really sad/emotional, would you ever consider doing more drama?
Questions are closed for Betty - but keep submitting the for the committee!
ReplyDeleteQuestion for Scott..
ReplyDeleteCongratulation on another "10" for Men of a Certain Age! But the selfish side of me hopes that this won't stop you from showing up in a theatrical production SOON. Anything on the horizon? Miss you and hope to see you again soon. Congratulations on your new appointment with SAG.
Sarah
Another question for Scott...
ReplyDeleteThe show Men of A Certain Age is doing very well, but I'm "stressed out" about Terry's character. Please tell me that you are not anything like the character you portray. I'm not ready for my Bakula bubble to burst!
Also, there is a question going around on the Net wondering whether or not the picture of the young child in the opening of Men is a young Scott. Would you solve the mystery for us? Thanks!
Scott can you tell us about the post at the Daily Beast? Did you post it yourself or did your kids help you? ;-) Were you invited to contribute or did you volunteer? and will you be contributing more?
ReplyDeleteThis question is for Daryl... During your "Animal" days there was some controversy regarding your character. How did you deal with that as an actor, and how do you think your role has influenced photographers today?
ReplyDeleteThis is for Paul - You've done a lot of TV over the years, and I was curious, from an actor's perspective and the shooting experience: What are some of the things that have really changed since you started, from an actor's perspective? And what hasn't changed hardly at all?
ReplyDeleteAnother one for Shelley:
ReplyDeleteAny interest in writing an autobiography? I'm sure you've got some great stories!
A few comments for Scott...
ReplyDeleteWhatever it is you do as far as your weekly exercise regiment keep up the good work! You look awesome--and the more the years mature you, the more handsome you become; you are fit and athletic and whether you want to be or not, you are an inspiration to us! But even more important than appearance is your gentle and compassionate nature. I've met you a total of six times since 2006 and each time I am amazed that even after an energized show or event you still come out with a smile on your face and "a song in your heart" and are ready to meet and greet your fans. You're consideration and thoughtfulness towards us is very much appreciated. Thank-you Scott!
Sarah
This is for the whole committee:
ReplyDelete1- What's your most memorable or the funniest SAG awards moment?
2- Do you ever guess the winners and how good are you at it?
For Jo Beth Williams - What was it like working with Michael C. Hall on Dexter?
ReplyDeleteFor Betty White: What role did you most enjoy during your career and why?
ReplyDeleteFor Scott: Will you be doing any other live shows or will TV be making that more difficult? Any movies?
this is for the person running the blog:
ReplyDeletewho are you? :-)
will the committee be answering and if so, when - I know they are quite busy this weekend!
thanks for the chance to ask questions
I'm Jean - the New Media Assistant for the SAG Awards. Sorry - yes! The committee will be answering questions, hopefully soon! But it has been a little busy :) Keep checking back!
ReplyDeleteThis question is for Scott
ReplyDeleteScott, I had the chance to see you play the piano on stage several years ago. (An Evening w/ Scott Bakula) and it was a real treat. I wouldn't have missed that opportunity for the world. Would you mind sharing with us how much you have the opportunity to practice in order to keep up with your musical proficiency? (You make me wish I had kept up with my piano lessons!)
Thanks, Scott!
Scott,
ReplyDeleteI've happily followed your career for two decades, (Wow! Has it really been that long?) and I am enjoying the journey. I have two questons. The first is of all the characters you have portrayed to date, which one would you consider the most like you? And the second question, is there a character that you would like to "leap" into for a time and walk in their shoes?
Thanks for your time, Scott. Looking forward to the next couple of decades!
Sarah
Jean,
ReplyDeleteSorry if this has come through multiple times but on my end it doesn't seem to have been accepted, so I'm trying again.
I have two questions for Scott. One, of all the characters you have portrayed to date which one would you consider the most like you?
Second, Which one of your characters would you like to "LEAP" into and walk in their shoes for a time?
Thanks, Scott!
Sarah
Thanks for you questions guys, but it has been closed. I'm working on getting the Q&A posted today. It's really fun and they're all so cute together... Stay tuned!
ReplyDeleteHey, Jean - have a great time. Transcribing Scott, alone, is a treat. No, seriously, he's very nice.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous, An Evening With was only two years ago, not "several." :-) (it was the last time I saw him so I *hope* it wasn't several.)
thanks for your share ,http://www.shopbigbig.com,and got useful information from your post.
ReplyDeleteI've always loved Betty's comedic talent...
ReplyDeleteShe plays "dumb as a fox" so well!
