Actors may submit their own performances from 2010 for consideration in categories of the actor’s choosing. With the actor’s permission, producers, studios/networks, agents, managers, or publicists may also submit performances for consideration.

17th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards Nominating Committee

It’s that time again! The Screen Actors Guild Awards team is revving up for this year’s show simulcast live on TNT and TBS Sunday, Jan. 30, 2010.

In April, SAG Awards Committee Chair JoBeth Williams announced the random selection of our two Nominating Committees – one for film and one for television, each consist of 2,100 Guild members from across the nation responsible for selecting the nominees. Members selected were notified by mail about their service.

These committees are randomly selected new each year to keep the voting pool fresh. Members may not serve on a nominating committee if they have done so in the past five years.

This process is part of what makes the Screen Actors Guild Awards unique. We’re the only awards show where actors’ outstanding performances are recognized by their peers on live television.

Congratulations to all of this year’s selected Nominating Committee members and thank you for your service!

Nominations will be announced Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010 at the Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood. All paid-up, active members will then be sent final ballot information in late December to determine who will receive Actors® for outstanding performances of 2010.

It's been a while since our last post - sorry! We're here wrapping up post show. I hope you enjoyed the show and we've put out some videos for you and working on a few more for those of you who may have missed the show - or just want to see it again! Check out our Facebook page for photos leading up to the show and behind the scenes on Show Day. It was a lot of fun. Crazy busy, but definitely fun.

On one of the days I was able to sit down with the whole committee and ask them a few of the questions that were submitted on the blog. Sorry I couldn't get to all the questions! I think it's cute how they interact together and how well they all get along. They have also had so many different experiences, and it's fascinating to hear a tidbit of their stories. I hope that this video makes you kind of feel like you are there with me, because if I could bring you all along, I would.

Please excuse the loud banging noises in the background - We taped this on the show room floor, and stage set up was going on directly to my right, their left. Also there's a promo for the watching the show. We taped this before the show, but it was so busy, that the video wasn't ready until now.

Step 1. Watch this clip from the KTLA morning show with SAG Event Supervisor Andrea Wyn Schall, Los Angeles Chef and Restauranteur Suzanne Goin, and KTLA's Allie MacKay for insider tips and tricks on mimicking the gorgeous table settings that we will have at Saturday's awards.

Step 2. Stop by Suzanne Goin's Brentwood restaurant, Tavern, and pick up a SAG Awards Picnic box, which features dishes like roasted winter vegetables and grilled Colorado lamb tenderloin. That way you won't have to peel a huge mound of carrots by yourself.

The SAG Awards Ceremony Auction - Ends Friday!

The SAG Foundation was started in 1985 with the mission to assist, educate, and inspire actors. They contribute to such causes as BooksPAL, a volunteer program in which actors read aloud to elementary school children, Storyline Online to increase literacy and excitement about books via the Internet, and We The Children, a foundation that teaches children self-confidence through literacy by giving them the opportunity to write and illustrate their family story.

Currently, with the help of Clothes Off Our Back and lots of generous SAG contributors, we are running some fabulous auctions to benefit the SAG Foundation. For example, our sweet Lifetime Achievement Honoree, Betty White, signed and donated some personal memoribilia, including her book, Here We Go Again. Betty White Answers Your Questions!

It's Show Week! It's a busy week coming up and the days are never going to seem long enough. As it is, I can't believe it's afternoon already. But I can't complain because it's going to be a lot of fun seeing all the finishing touches come together. This week we have the Statue Pouring where our Actor Statuettes are cast in solid bronze, and then behind the scenes events where we'll show off the food and decor, highlight items we have for the Ceremony Auction (there's some really good stuff!), give you an inside look to the seating for the show and our Red Carpet roll out! Get excited.

Last week we spent a little bit of time with Betty White. She participated in SAG Foundation's Storyline Online, and then she sat down, made her first video blog, and answered some of the questions that you all submitted. She has really great stories, and she's done so much that it's always a good time to chat with her. Every time I'm with her, people around us are always excited to tell her how much they love her, and Betty's such a doll and has a great sense of humor. I hope that when I'm 88 years old, that I am that awesome.

We had a walk-through Monday morning, and some additional production crew joined us in the office – everyone’s going at full steam! I know I’ve said it before, but I really can’t believe the show is in two weeks. It seems even faster than last time. With that said – we’re trying to cram even more into the calendar.

As you should know, Betty White is our Life Achievement honoree this year. The first time I met her, I was just coming in for a regular Monday morning, dreading coming back from the weekend and the elevator opened up and ‘Hey look! It’s Betty White…’ I awkwardly stepped into the elevator, mostly from being caught off guard, and Betty was just so nice! She's super stylish with her lion necklace and loves animals. Aldo (our awards pup) was in the house that day, so he got some love from Betty.

There’s another group of people who are also great to work with, the SAG Awards Committee! If you don’t know who they all are – let us tell you a little bit about them.

JoBeth Williams - our committee chair and president of the SAG Foundation whom you'd recognize from her starring roles in "Poltergeist" and "The Big Chill" and her recent arc on "Dexter” and appearance on “Private Practice”

 Daryl Anderson - our committee Vice Chair; who made his first big splash as the photographer nicknamed "Animal" on the TV drama "Lou Grant," and is still shooting great pictures

Scott Bakula - who's currently starring in TNT's hot new drama "Men of a Certain Age and who thrilled sci-fi fans on "Quantum Leap" and "Star Trek" Enterprise"

Shelley Fabares - star of such classic TV series as "Coach," "One Day at a Time" and "The Donna Reed Show" 

Paul Napier - who you might recognize as one of the old-line bankers from the Washington Mutual ads and who was the original "Mr. Goodwrench"

They’re always so nice. Whether I’ve run into them coming out of long meetings or at 5 in the morning for nominations, you can tell they love doing what they do. Bleacher Seat Terms and Conditions

The Screen Actors Guild Awards is a live telecast. Anyone who will be involved in the production or who may be photographed or otherwise on-camera, including audience members, must be appropriately screened and held to the terms and conditions set forth by SAG and the SAG Awards production team. The following terms and conditions are necessary to ensure a professional and uninterrupted process for the production team as well as an enjoyable experience for the successful entrant and his/her guest(s). SAG and the SAG Awards production team reserves the right to refuse or cancel the Bleacher Seats in the event that the successful entrant and his/her guest(s) do not pass the necessary screening process or do not comply with the following terms and conditions:

* The successful entrant and his/her guest(s) must successfully pass a background check to the SAG Awards production team’s satisfaction.
* The successful entrant must be at least 18 years of age and the successful entrant’s guest(s) must be 12 years of age or older.
* The successful entrant and his/her guest(s) must successfully pass a screening process in order to receive the seats. This process may include some or all of the following: the submission of information necessary to conduct a background check (including criminal background check), submission of successful entrant and guest(s)’s proper photo identification (driver’s license or State identification card) for security purposes, and agreement to additional terms and conditions which may include, but are not limited to, dress code, audience/photo release, and appropriate conduct code.

* Bleacher guest(s)s may appear in television or print media coverage of the event. By attending, all bleacher guest(s)s grant Screen Actors Guild, the SAG Foundation, the SAG Awards, Jeff Margolis Productions, and their authorized media participants the right to use their image or likeness in perpetuity for any purpose in connection with the Screen Actors Guild Awards, including but not limited to promotional and media coverage purposes.

It's a new year and this is our new blog. We've had a few in other places, and we're slowly migrating the posts over, but this is where it's at... Thanks for joining us. We have some fun times planned for the show this year, and I can't believe that the show is less than three weeks away.

Let's give you a little bit of an introduction. My name is Jean and I do the social media for the SAG Awards. So when you see those Twitter updates, and the Facebook posts - it's usually me. I've got a little help from our networks, but mostly it's me trying to field everything - so be nice, because I like you, too.

There's someone else I'd like you to meet. He's the newest member of the SAG Awards production team, Phelps. (I really wanted to name him Lou, but got out voted.) He joined us today and I think he's settled in well.

The past month that we were in the office and trying to plan for the show, I never thought that January would come so fast. Now I'm looking at the calendar FILLED plans that we have for the next three weeks, and eating dinners in the office. We sign our lives away for a few weeks for some pad thai and pineapple fried rice.

In the upcoming weeks, we'll have contests and giveaways (there's one going on right now!!). Prize packs and SAG Awards swag. I'm hoping to have some vlogs featuring some members of our production crew, and let you in on a little bit of the madness that goes on around here, but not too much because we can't reveal all our secrets. We're going to have some Q&A blogs with our Life Achievement honoree Betty White (love her!), the SAG Awards committee and possibly (hopefully) a few other guests may come our way.
